Stonehouse Male Voice Choir has a new home: come and join us at www.StonehouseMaleVoiceChoir.com

About us

Stonehouse Male Voice Choir was formed in 1935, in a local builder’s yard, when two or three joiners began singing during their lunch break.
With the exception of the war years the Choir has gone from strength to strength and is now over 50 strong.

Rehearsals

We rehearse from 7:30pm to 9:30pm every Tuesday night in the Paterson UF hall, Stonehouse, from September through to the end of March or the beginning of April, with breaks for Christmas etc.. The practice nights offers a great night of comradeship hard work and fun.

Repertoire

The Choir’s repertoire is wide and varied ranging from classical, Church music, music from the shows and light popular music. Gordon Millar, our Musical Director tries to cater for all tastes.

Concerts

The choir mainly performs at fund raising events for charities, Churches, Guilds and clubs etc. throughout the Central belt of Scotland and we normally give about five or six concerts per season. In addition to the above we hold our own annual concert in the Paterson Church, usually held about the third week in March for two nights, which is the Thursday and Friday of that week. We also regularly take part in the annual Massed Male Voice Choir concert in Hamilton in March and the Christian Aid Concert held in St. Ninians at Christmas. and have also performed at:-

  • The Scottish Massed Male Voice Choirs in the Royal Concert Hall and,
  • Concerts held in Dumfries in aid of the Leonard Cheshire fund.
